Project Management

A reported 68% of projects fail. With a 100% success rate for on-time, on-budget delivery of projects our Project Managers are in the minority group.

Our method has been developed through our work on many projects, the invaluable experience of our project managers and their interaction with project teams throughout the world. At Cheeky Monkey we are all Prince2 practitioners and can deliver complex projects using leading edge tools and techniques.

Our coaching and mentoring approach is the cornerstone of our management philosophy; we become an extension of your organization for the duration of a project, and provide the experience necessary to guide your people towards a successful and sustainable project delivery.

The ‘way of the monkey’ is a human approach to the delivery of innovation and change through our 5 stage process:

Designed to ensure:

  • The viability of the project
  • Commitment from the business throughout the project lifecycle
  • Adoption, ownership and accountability of the people who have to deliver the change
  • A structured, controlled project environment which is also flexible enough to react to business demands
  • Interaction and communication throughout the project team and the business
  • A vehicle to assess the capability of the people working on the project and generate training, support and coaching where it may be required
  • The opportunity to support the stars in the team by encouraging them to stretch themselves and/or what the business is trying to deliver
  • Successful delivery of the project and the forecasted benefits
  • Lessons learned programme to aid continuous learning

1. The Disruption Process

Whatever stage your project is at, we will always begin with ‘Disruption’.

What will we do?

  • Ask lots of questions
  • Challenge convention
  • Challenge assumptions
  • Challenge prejudices

What will happen?

  • New possibilities will come to light
  • Visionary ideas are born
  • You will understand what needs to be delivered
  • You will know if you are able to deliver the project to scope, on-time, on-budget
  • You will know if the project can continue

Our methodology and process is universal it can be used to answer just about any challenge that a brand or company may have. We have successfully used this process to challenge building projects, NPD, marketing, cultural change, site closure, ways of working, manufacturing efficiencies, business integration, PLM implementation and many more.

We are being paralyzed by convention. By challenging conventional wisdom we are able to push beyond its limits and identify a vision of the future. A well articulated vision creates excitement and enthusiasm for employees and consumers, and will inspire the people tasked with its delivery.

2. The Virtual Project

The virtual project is a combination of science and magic. We play out the project in theory, in a virtual world. We use our experience to lead the team through a series of questions and challenges. All the time, we map what is being played out, converting the output into a template that can be followed to deliver the project. The magic comes in our ability to empower your people. We call it magic because it conjures up excitement, enthusiasm and anticipation of what is to come.

3. Project Execution

The virtual project defines your project. Once it is signed off, it becomes the baseline for managing the project execution. At this stage we are primarily into delivery through project management methods:

  • Project planning and reporting
  • Risk and Issue management
  • Project assurance and acceptance
  • Financial controls
  • Change control

4. Benefits Realisation

The only reason a project exists is to deliver pre-determined business benefit. Driving out the benefits of the project involves working closely with the customer to ensure that the product or service created within the project is:

  • 1. What the customer wants
  • 2. Firmly adopted and embodied into the organisation

5. Project Review & Lessons Learned

Projects do not last forever, it is important that a project ends, in order to:

We are also great at:

Training

Got your own Project Manager? No problem, we all need a little help now and again. A day covering change control, a week on your project plan or a group workshop, we can help.

We can tailor a training package to meet your needs.

Project Recovery

To recover or not to recover, that is the question.

Accepting that your project is failing is not easy, in fact only the brave will stand up and ask for help. We would love to claim that we can rescue any project, but the reality is that the events and conditions that lead you to initiate a project may have changed significantly.

We can help you assess the position of the project to enable a decision to be made quickly, when a decision has been reached we can:

  • Get your project back on track and mentor your people through its delivery, or continue the project with one of our project managers
  • Provide a formal closure for your project, including the end of project review and lessons learned
